The following resolution establishing the current policy for hosting of the PBARC Wiki and an archive of the WordPress site was passed unanimously at the June 2023 monthly meeting. It has been fully implemented for the Wiki and partially implemented for the WordPress site.
Resolution
PELICAN BAY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB
RESOLUTION ON WEB HOSTING
WHEREAS, the current server used for the PBARC Wiki is also used for several other tasks, which sometimes consume most of the resources of the server, and
WHEREAS, the wiki often becomes unusable when these tasks run, and
WHEREAS, obtaining a separate server for the club would substantially improve the reliability and performance of the wiki at relatively low cost, and
WHEREAS, any edits made to the wiki on the old server during the migration to the new one would be lost in the migration process,
Now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Pelican Bay Amateur Radio Club, to purchase a Virtual Private Server (VPS) from Advanced Internet Technologies (AIT.com) with the latest version available of the Debian operating system for an amount not to exceed $10 per month,
And be it further RESOLVED, to transfer the wiki and the archive of the old web site to this server as soon as possible,
And be it further RESOLVED, before beginning the migration process, to prevent any further edits from being made to the wiki on the old server.
Approved by the membership at the Jun 2023 monthly meeting on June 30, 2023.
